For those who love art you would have contemplated creating an art wall somewhere in your home or hospitality at some point.

Creating an art wall allows you to push the boundaries of creativity and therefore speaks volumes in terms of individuality.

Adorning your wall with a gallery of different pieces of art will attract interest and identity.  And I don’t like to think of it as ‘eclectic’ because it can consist of just one colour, one theme or genre. It can be elegant and imposing, or it can be subtle and creative.

Using different dimensions.

Let me clarify, for example; your frames can be in different dimensions, or not. It can consist of gold or silver frames mixed in with black or white, or all white or all black.

Colour

If you want to create a colour theme and you are drawn to abstract art as another example, ensure you apply the 60-30-10 rule. The 60-30-10 rule means 60% is the colour you would use the most, 30% in another colour and using half as much, and the accent is the colour that makes your design pop.

60-30-10 rule - remember your accent colour should make your design pop

A Vantage Point

A vantage point for your art wall to be viewed will set the tone. It is not necessary of course, it can also be positioned in a hallway, entry or bedroom. However, viewing your art wall from afar is always more appealing.

Rules

There are no rules, you can display your wall art as you wish, just make sure it doesn’t lack consistency or good design.

Your Ceiling

How expansive your art wall is will depend on the height of your ceiling. If you happen to have soaring ceilings this is the chance to do something dramatic with your wall.
